Dear Hazel,

You're 2! I cannot believe how fast these past two years have flown by, especially this last one. You have grown so much this past year and you are such an amazing little girl.

You love playing with baby dolls especially the new doll you got for Christmas, we call her Snacking Sara - even though she isn't the "real thing" that doesn't matter to you. You love to hold your babies, you pretend to feed them, you change their clothes-usually you just take their clothes off and then say naked baby! It's the cutest thing ever. Your new thing is getting the baby plate and grabbing one of your old baby spoons to pretend to feed the baby. What you think Snacking Sara? You say after you feed her.

You are so interested in knowing everyone's names. When we go to the store you'll sit and ask me, what's that's name? To which I say what's their name? I don't know.  But on the off chance the person is wearing a name tag or I do know their name I can tell you.

You love having people over to your house and you get so overly excited when someone comes to play. You call your family your friends and always ask when your friends are going to come over to your house.

You played in the snow for the first time, the day after Christmas, and you loved it. Prescott has become an exciting name to you and every time you think about something we did in Prescott you think about the snow. The other day we went to Hobby Lobby and you said and the snow will be there? Oh the things you remember, my sweet girl.

You've started saying the sweetest things to me, just the other day you gave me a big hug and said did you know you're my best friend?! You sure do know how to melt my mommy heart.

You have a big girl bed now, your daddy was instant that you move into it as soon as possible. I was more okay with holding off because I knew that meant you were growing up and you would no longer be my baby. For me it meant that you would no longer need me to rock you to sleep, and I sure do miss that.  You love your big girl bed, and were so excited to sleep in it the first night. The first few weeks daddy and I would find you just sitting in your bed with Maggie and Dolly.

You know so many words and speak full sentences--sometimes you need help with your grammar, but it's cute and sometimes I don't want to correct you. You love being with older kids and playing with them, because you think you're just as big. You've often times got your own agenda for doing things but you are becoming such a good listener I can't believe it. Just the other day I said Hazel, please put that back. and you responded. Okay mommy. My eyes practically bulged out of my head I was so surprised by your response -in a good way.

You've started asking if you can drive the car - it's terribly cute - mommy I drive the car? I hand you the key, say sure! you say kay thanks! And then you hop in the car and put the key in the ignition. You can't turn the car on yet - thankfully - but I imagine you'll learn that soon enough.

You absolutely love playing with play-doh, crafting, painting, and just creating things. You love to cut with your scissors and you'll often ask me where my scissors go? Because you want to cut the paper and the string.

You're the smartest girl I've ever known, and you're so curious about everything. You're starting to remember all these stores we go to and the things that we've gotten from them. We got horsey from... what's that's name?

I love keeping you busy and doing fun things with you, you love to help me bake and cook dinner. The other night you did as much cooking as I did, it was so nice to have you help me with everything.

There are so many things that you do, it's so hard to remember them all and write them into this little space. I cannot believe all that you are learning and doing, it makes me so happy to see you learn and grow. To see that you are such a smart girl and that all our hard work is paying off.

You're growing too fast, and I'm trying to soak in all these moments of your precious little life. I love you so much Hazel girl, you're my favorite girl ever.

xo, Mommy
