what I'm liking, Friday

Happy Friday! Got big plans? No? Me either, which is seriously sometimes the best. A nice relaxing weekend?

Listening to pandora and this song just came on. It's kind of one of my all time favs, so you're welcome.

Carter's is having an up to 70% off sale and they have tons of cute baby clothes for great deals!

This shirt is $24 at old navy and has two other color options, but I can't decide which I like best. Thoughts?

annnd here are some of the dinner recipes I used this week:

Breakfast for dinner, tater tot sausage casserole
Easy Mexican pizza dish, quick and simple.
This chicken Paleo dish is for tonight, but it looks really delicious.

a condensed version of my weekend

At church we have callings and my calling is librarian, it's such an easy simple calling, I really am grateful for it.  It's nice to have somewhere to lock Hazel up in, somewhere to just let her wonder around after church while I wait for everyone to bring back their stuff.  Yesterday was the first time in a long time that we had to close the library, and the first time in a long time that Hazel got down and walked around. I'm pretty sure she enjoyed it. From pressing the keys of the keyboard that was not plugged in, to going up and down on the stool, and everything else her little heart desired, she touched it all.

It had to have been quite the adventure, the towers of books, the piles of pictures and collection of easels and decorative pieces! Very adventurous place the church library is.

The rest of our Sunday was consumed by a little nap and some fun play inside and outside. I think this might have been the last nice weekend of the summer, next week says upper 90's for us. Yikes! I'm not ready for this, and I'm not sure Hazel is ready to be cooped up all day either.

Saturday we took Brand some lunch while he was at school. Hazel enjoys walking around the classrooms, sitting on the chairs, and touching things that are new to her. This time she walked around the room and pointed at the outlets and said noooo. But, that didn't stop her from touching... kids man.
When Hazel turned one we started teaching her to fold her arms when we said the prayer. She caught on really quick and is really good at reminding us when it's time to pray.  She also thinks it's time to pray whenever someone is folding their arms, sooo... She'll say saer and fold her arms when she is reminding us.  She's quite cleaver.  I love that little lady I do. So smart and intrigued by everything in her path.

This weekend flew by, 45 days until my brother comes home from his mission, one week until Hazel gets her 15 months old check up and shots -ughhh don't talk to me about shots. I love them and I don't at the same time. Love them because they are so necessary, don't because they hurt!
Hazel fell asleep in her car seat last week, first time it what has seemes like ages, she didn't take a morning nap, so it seemed as though I wore her out too much on our afternoon outing.

Who doesn't love a sweet sleeping baby picture?

Happy Monday!

when you catch the sick bug, you're out for the count

Seems like we caught whatever has been going around. Hazel had it Saturday night, thankfully only Saturday night. Which made us think that she had food poisoning because it came on so quickly, but the rest of the story wouldn't make sense then.

I got it Monday and Brand had it Tuesday.  The trifecta and sweep of our house, the good ole 1-2-3, you got us bug, and you knocked us out good.

Being a mom and being sick is hard

All I wanted to do was lay on the couch, because I knew that if I moved or stood up I would automatically need to head straight for the bathroom. Too much information? I felt like a pile of garbage and Hazel seemed to know that something was wrong with me. She saw me slouched over in the chair -all disheveled-with a half smile on my face. She would walk over to me and give me a hug or pat my leg, she's quite sweet.

She'd bring me some play kitchen food so we could pretend to have a pic-nic, and I'd slowly but surly play along. She'd request books from the very top shelf, because today she wanted to read Winnie the Pooh. And I felt bad, I felt bad because I couldn't give her all the energy I had to play with her, to make her day fun and exciting. I felt bad because I was being lazy and just felt down in the dumps, and downright gross!

Hazel seems to be quite clingy when I'm sick, or when I get hurt, or really whenever she sees someone she doesn't know.. but that's another subject...

I was able to enlist my mom in helping me with Hazel for a little bit on Monday, Brand was unavailable because he had some tests this week and midterms next week.  Thank goodness for moms that live nearby, what would we do without them.  My mom tried to distract Hazel so I could try and get some rest, but Hazel wouldn't leave my side. It was a sort of mantra she had: if mom's sick, then I'm sick! and I could almost hear her say it.

Throughout the day all I hoped for was that she wouldn't have to see me throw up. But the time came where it was just her and I alone at home, and it hit me like a ton of bricks. I ran to the bathroom and she automatically started scream/crying -she does this when I leave a room really fast, I'm thinking separation anxiety. And there it happened, in between attacks I told her to go find Maggie or where is your book, in the nicest tone I possibly could. She never left my side and just cried the whole time.
Being sick and being a mom is hard!

Being sick is hard!
Being sick stinks!

Why is it that we only appreciate being healthy when we are sick. It's almost like why can't we know we are in the gold ole days before they are gone?

I hope this bug doesn't come within a ten foot pole of you or your loved ones, and especially, especially your babies!

How has your week been?

what I'm liking, Friday

via

Is it just me or do you also have a hard time figuring out what's for dinner?  I know how tough it can be sifting through all the recipes on pinterest, but when someone recommends a certain recipe you know it was a good one.  Here are some of the recipes that I've tried that are good, some of them are from this week.

If you're in a hurry and just needing something that whips up quick and is really tasty you must try this mozzarella tomato green and pesto chicken

Sometimes Brand and I like to make these for lunch because they are really quick and taste good too! Garlic bread pizza

Really easy one pan Mexican food dish, I'm not even an olive fan but this was really good.

A simple spaghetti dish if - you could also add chicken to this if you're wanting some meat.

I usually only make four dishes because we usually have left overs and sometimes eat out one night a week.

If you want to find more recipes I've made you can follow my cooking pinterest board

how we wore it: spring time

Here we are again, little ole me trying to fit in with all these fashion bloggers, I'm just a wannabe -and that is all. When I first saw this picture I was quite concerned, I didn't know how in the world I would be able to pull the look off and look half as cute and she does. Sometimes I'm intimidated by all these pretty people, I mean seriously, some people are just blessed with beauty. Am I right?! So, here's my interpretation, without going out and buying anything, just using the things from my closet.
Inspiration outfit Chic Street Style

My interpretation of the outfit.
top & cardigan: old, jeans: f21, flats: toms, necklace and glasses: c/o Choies

Let's be honest, I kind of had to mom this one up. It's not quite realistic for me, the whole high heals with jeans. I mean, I've never tried chasing Hazel in high heels, but I can't imagine I would be successful in the least. I really like the comfort of the outfit, the light cardigan is perfect for a summer day and gives extra coverage for a cool evening. And the jeans, well, I always wear jeans, maybe I need to branch out, but you can't go wrong with a good pair of jeans.

Currently I'm really liking these statement necklaces -Hazel is too, might I add. I love them because I can dress up or dress down an outfit with one simple necklace. They add so much to what I'm wearing, and it's practically a free for all because they go with everything -especially this pearl necklace. If you're wanting to dress this outfit up for night time all you would really have to do is add a pair of heals (putting your hair up could be another option, depending on how much time you have to get ready.) It's such a versatile look, perfect for women on the go, for those who work, or those who are moms. You can't go wrong with any of it!

If you're interested in signing up for next month's how we wore it head over to Deidre Emme and enter your info in the google doc.  Here's a list of all the other bloggers that have participated this time around, make sure to check out how they interpreted this picture. // Deidre at Deidre Emme // Kyla at FordOlogy // Aubrey at Aubrey Zaruba // Berkley at Here in the Now // Alyssa at Impractical Composition // Autumn at Stay gold Autumn // Hannah at Simply Hannah Sneed // Jessica at Mason Jars and Lemon Bars // Paige at The Happy Flammily // Brielle at Breezy & Co. // Alexa at He & I // Brooke at Silver Lining // Sierra at Sierra's View // Madeline at CaseyLand // Susan at Sue's News // Bonnie at The Life of Bon // Ashley at Absolutely Ashley // Bekah at These Are The Days // Robin at Penn & Quill // Kylie at Love Always, Kylie

and it wouldn't be a real post without a few picture of Hazel and I.

a condensed version of my weekend

I'm not sure if the planets are in some kind of zig-zag pattern or if it's jut my dumb unlucky self, but last week was tough. The weekend was a bit better, Hazel finally slept through the night and I was able to get some sleep! THANK YOUUUU!  I think she caught something from one of the kids we visited last week so that really stinks! Anyways, she's been super fussy and has NOT been a good sleeper -besides already not being a good sleeper. Oh well, such is the life of a mom right?!

This weekend we hung out and watched General Conference. We played outside, played with bubbles, water, and went for a walk. Soaking up all this last bit of nice weather before we get blasted in the face with summer heat. I can't tell you how much I'm not ready for summer heat.

Friday night Brand and I had a little date night. We had some ice cream, and watched 007, and can I say something? I actually stayed up and watched the whole movie. I'm notorious for falling asleep watching a movie, or ditching out and going to be early. I was pretty proud of myself. It probably helped that I was excited for the movie, I mean Daniel Craig?! I feel like I'm... what's the opposite of a cougar?? He's quite handsome though.

Have I ever said how much Hazel loves chocolate... I know I have, she is addicted and this is sometimes what happens after... Ooohhhh she's cute!
I made cinnamon rolls for the very first time this weekend, they were delicious! Post about them later this week, so stayyy tuned. Hazel always likes to be my helper, especially when I'm in the kitchen. I'm so serious about getting one of these for Hazel, so that she doesn't fall off the chair, because let's be honest... It's hard cooking and holding a baby at the same time! Anyone have something like this?! I'm looking for advice.

I broke out a whole bunch of toys this weekend and one of which was this little doll bed. Hazel likes sitting on it, but when I laid her down she wasn't too happy. Looking back I wish I would have taken these pictures when she was younger.. how cute would that have been?!

Well, that's my weekend. What did you do?

Happy Monday!

what I'm liking, Friday

via

I know I'm not the only one who is obsessed with the show Fixer Upper. And I also know that I'm not the only one who wishes Joanna and Chip lived near so they could fix up my house -when I buy one that is.  I fall in love with their designs every time, the crisp clean lines, the bright warm colors, they are such an amazing duo. Here are some Magnolia Farms designs that I absolutely love:

plumbing shelving -I can't believe how easy this is to put together!

clean lines in a bathroom, and the flowers aren't horrible either.

everything about this home screams live in me! but, at the same time it says kids stay away! either way I absolutely love it!

I'm a sucker for kitchen sinks that look outside, we have one right now and it's something I absolutely don't ever want to live without!

a beautifully symmetrical front door, this gives me big heart eyes.

What are your favorite designs from Magnolia Farms?
