four months

 shorts & headband: umekobaby

At Hazel's four month check up she weighed 13 pounds (80th percentile) and was 25.85 inches long (95th percentile).  She did much better with her shots this time around, but still cried for a bit. She had a fever the next day and was very snugly all week long.  It seemed like the rotavirus vaccine might have given her a bad bum, but it seems to be working its way out.
At four months Hazel:
Still loves chewing on her hands, she especially likes to twist her hand around and chew on her pinky
Has started taking naps in her crib
Woke up around 1:11 in the morning to eat -almost every morning for about a week.
Slept in till 9:45 and sometimes 10 for about two weeks
Loves touching things, she reaches for things and wants to touch them -and if she can put it in her mouth that's a plus.
Tries to eat her toes.
When she pulls her feet to her mouth she often times rolls over to the side and has been really close to rolling over.
Still is not a fan of tummy time, but we use the boppy to prop her up and let her watch tv.
Loves to screech. She loves to talk and we are convinced she is saying "hi" and "yeah".

growing babies

me: top: jcpenny, flats: jcpenny (similar), watch: (similar)
Hazel: dress: carters, headband: Knot Just A Stitch

It seems like just yesterday when Brand and I brought Hazel home from the hospital. She was so small and fresh, she had dark hair and she mostly stayed asleep. She loved to cuddle up, be snuggled, and warm. And she loved the sound of her mom and dad's voices. Back then days seemed long, I was so very tired and stressed and at times I was both things mixed -which is not a good mixture if you ask me. I was worried that I would never get this whole motherhood thing down and kept thinking that I was obviously doing something wrong.

Now, as she sleeps right next to me on the couch I look at her and see how much bigger she has gotten, she has grown so much. Now she loves to keep her eyes open, she loves to play with her toys, She has started playing with her feet and it's so funny to see her try and get them into her mouth. She loves to talk, and blows bubbles and raspberries. She has the best smile when she wakes up -from ear to ear a gummy grin. She has become my little sidekick best girlfriend and I am so grateful for everything she is.
She is happy, healthy, loving, full of love, and is constantly making me laugh.
When she was first born I knew this whole thing would go by so fast. I knew that before long she would be big like she is. But, I'm loving every moment of this growing and learning she is doing.

Let me also talk about this headband she has on.
You know me, I love all things crochet and this headband has me giddy.
Knot Just A Stitch has super cute headbands, for babies and big girls alike. Take a look and get 15% off your order with code IMPCOMP15

a condensed version of my weekend

Let me start by saying how much I love this girl. All the stress, and heartache I went through all seems so very worth it now. This weekend was lots of girl time. Brand has been studying like crazy for finals this week, so we've been here quite a lot. Saturday was another day with wonderful weather. We took a walk around the block and relaxed in the cool grass, it was almost too cold actually.  Hazel really loves being outside, and she was sure talking up a storm when we were out there. I love watching her see new things, she has such a curious mind -and she seems to be rather talkative too, I might have a real Anne on my hands.

Sunday our friends blessed their baby boy, he such a sweet boy. I get all emotional talking about these new babies -they are something special that's for sure.

Hazel wore these pjs that I use to dress my dolls in, and when she was sleeping I couldn't help but think of how much she looked like a little doll in them.

This weekend we played, laughed, danced, we-no, no, no, sheeee- took naps. I'd have to say that my life is pretty much everything I've ever wanted and more. Now I just need to learn how to be a mom, make dinners, annnnnd do the house work. I never thought this mom business would be so tricky.  I guess that's what happens when you want to hold and play with her all day.

Happy.... what is today.... TUESDAY!

a condensed version of my weekend

Oh it was a beautiful weekend in Arizona, friday we had the most amazing weather -like keep your doors and windows open kind of weather. It was especially nice because that meant Hazel and I got to go on a walk. This girl loves being outside, she loves seeing all the plants and animals, hearing all the new noises, it's seriously the best seeing  her discover new things. ^^ she is staring at a palm tree  and listening to it rustle in the wind, she would get all kinds of excited and wiggle her cute little body and kick those legs, we call it dancing.

Hazel has been talking a lot this week -baby talking of course. Her sweet girly voice is our favorite thing to listen to -like make you want five million babies kind of cute. She's starting to like when we sing to her, sometimes when I'm singing she'll start laughing at me - I don't know wither she is laughing because my singing is that bad, or if she just really likes the song.  I'm hoping it's the latter.

Saturday Brand's sister graduated from school, it was fun going to her graduation and celebrating her. She is such a smart cookie and has done so well in everything she has done.  Let's also talk about how she is getting married in less than two weeks! I cannot believe it, time is just flying so fast.  I'm sure going to miss her when she moves away.  -But, let's not discuss this now.

So, we went to her graduation -which had cake- and then we went to lunch -which was yummy.  Saturday night we had dinner with friends -Hazel's first time at Lo Lo's.  We later remembered and discussed that the last time we were there was before Hazel was born, which seems like forever and not so long ago.

Sunday was Mother's Day -more about this day later.  I was mostly looking forward to talking to my brother! My brother is serving a mission and we only get to talk to him through skype or on the phone on Mother's Day and Christmas. I was so very excited for Hazel to meet him for the first time, it was fun to see her watch him on the screen -of course she doesn't know what's going on really but I still loved it.  We talked and talked, he looks and sounds great, I love seeing him so happy. There's just something so wonderful about seeing and hearing him, I just love my missionary brother!

Happy Monday!

a condensed version of my weekend

Just look at those sleepy eyes.

I'm getting to this rather late. This week Hazel has been enjoying nap time with mom... back to her newborn days where she only likes to take naps in my arms. I'll take what I can get. So needless to say this whole week -and last week- I haven't gotten much accomplished.

Last weekend Brand's brother and his family came to town for a bridal shower and a baby blessing. It was a fun weekend, Hazel met her Uncle, Auntie and cousins for the first time -her Auntie has the magic touch and Hazel fell asleep in her arms twice -this mom was raising the roof.  We went to Brand's sister's bridal shower -we got there late because once again miss Hazel was boycotting nap time so I decided we were just going to go and she could fall asleep when she was tired, which she did.

Later we had some fun cousin time with all 9 of Hazel's cousins -this girl already has more cousins then I do.  It was almost like a circus Saturday night, kids running up and down the stairs, through the house, around the kitchen island, and out the back door. At one point one side of the stairs was covered in blankets which they were pretending to be a "trap". Little did they know it really was a slippery trap that no one dared to climb.

Sunday was Hazel's blessing. The girl slept in till 9:45. Silly me though, I should have woken her up at her normal time because it threw off the whole morning.  Brand gave her blessing and it was beautiful, she squawked at first, but that's because her pacifier fell out... have I discussed this pacifier thing? Girlfriend is addicted! But, once the pacifier was in she was quite content, Annnnd because our morning was thrown off by a late sleep in, nap time at church was non existent, except for when she fell asleep five minutes before sacrament meeting ended.  Which was short lived because we went outside to take pictures and the bright-mean-ole-sun woke her up.  That afternoon she slept for almost three house. You go girl!

Sunday night was more family and cousins running through the house. We love being with family and hanging out with them. Such a fun weekend to have Brand's brother's family visit.
