a condensed version of my weekend: link up

Oh beautiful weekend, you leave is such a hurry. This weekend was a pretty good one, but I really didn't get much done.  I'm seeing quite a trend with this semester. This week I did one thing of homework, and have yet to order my books for the semester, you could say that I am really enjoying this semester.  But you could also say that I have a reeeeealy bad case of senior-itis. I guess that's been my excuse for the past several years now. But really, finishing your bachelors degree when you're 25, give-me-a-break. Haha!

Anyways, the weekend was good. On Friday night, my date night with myself, I watched a movie called Lucy. It's about Lucy and Desi's life together and all the things that went wrong in their lives.  One thing is for sure, I'm definitely not a Desi fan anymore, he was a total jerk to Lucy, I don't know why she stayed with him.  And then Lucy on the other hand, such a hard worker, it's amazing how many productions she has been in.  It was interesting to see how their lives played out, some ups and a whole bunch of down-down-downs. Gosh. I guess I never realized that life wasn't just all around perfect for the two of them. I mean they play so well together on the show, and behind the scenes it's another story. I guess that whole thing goes on today too. People only show you what they want you to see.

You'll notice that my finger nails are painted red, it was a whim. Lucy had hers painted red and I guess I'm just a follower that way. I also had the idea to find some red lipstick and smack it on my lips, but I decided against it.

Saturday night Brand surprised me and brought me home a frap from the bucks of star.  I guess he really knows how to cheer this girl up. This week has been a devil for me. I mean literally Satan has been working on me as well as other sad thoughts.  Sometimes it's just hard to have a positive outlook on everything.  Anyways, when Brand brought me home the frap I had put a load of laundry into the washer maybe twenty minutes prior.  So I walked over to the kitchen and see that the floor was covered in water. I quickly grabbed towels and tried not to panic because it didn't look like it was still coming out, and it wasn't. Long story short the sensor to stop the water from filling up the washer was broken and the guy had to fix it.  So, I'll have an extra big water bill this month because the fixer-guy kept running the water to test it, and I had an extra load of laundry to do because of the newly wet towels. Oh-well. Not like I had big plans for Saturday night anyways.

After the fixer-guy left we went to Panda, and then Brand went back to studying.  I had an itch to get out of the house and go to Hobby Lobby, but I got too comfortable at home and ended up not leaving.

Moral of my Friday and Saturday nights... I need friends... or kids.

How was your weekend?!

elbow patches and anne shirley

top: Persunmall, jeans: buckle (similar), shoes: converse, necklace: Choies, watch: no longer sold (similar

I absolutely love this sweater. I love the elbow patches, they bring me back the the 20's and I can't get over how stylish everyone was back then.  Then they reminded me of the 90's, I was watching Frasier the other day and he had a sports jacket on with these same elbow patches-well, not the exact same but I think you understand.  They make me feel robust and sophisticated, I'd like to think that Anne Shirley would have worn them, had she been properly introduced.  Hence the braid I'm sporting. Although I can never get the kind of poof she gets in her hair.   Her and I are kindred spirits, I think. Except I didn't have to dye my hair to change it from red, I grew out of it.

Anyways, it's Friday.  This week flew by just like last week.  I've been going through old posts about school and I've seen a theme. The semesters go by so quick, and that makes me happy.  Also, the weather here in Arizona has been a bit on the warm side. We got up to 80 degrees this week and I wasn't at all thrilled. I'm hoping for some cooler temperatures, the kind where when you walk outside and you can see your breath.  I don't however wish for snow. I don't know how you other bloggers do it, that thing they call snow. I'll just stay here and enjoy my Arizona.

Happy Friday!

His time is not always our time

There are so many things that have gone on in my life that I love sharing with others, it's fun to talk about the wonderful things that go one in your life, all the progress you've made.
And then there are times where I don't like sharing with others--about my life that is.
I don't want to tell you about the negative things that I've gone through.
Although they've made me who I am today, it's kind of a personal barrier that can be hard to chop down.
I think the walls that I put up are pretty darn thick.

These past few years have really opened my eyes.
I cannot tell you how many times I've wished for something, hoped for somethings, dreamed for something prayed for something, and it never happened. And it still hasn't happened.
Yet, for oh-so many people around me it was happening.
And there I was falling behind everyone else-or so I thought and felt.

And when these similar prayers came back of dreaming for something, and praying for something, I began to find comfort in the words that I read earlier in the week.

"Although His time is not always our time, we can be sure that the Lord keeps His promises."
- Henry B. Eyring

I couldn't help but smile when I read this for the first time. I felt so much peace inside knowing and understanding these words.

Later in the week I listened to this talk and thought the words were specifically meant for me.
So many of the things coming out of President Eyring's mouth were the things I was feeling and going through. They were things I needed to hear.

"God is close to us and aware of us, and never hides from His faithful children."

How grateful am I to have a testimony of this, to know that God's timing may not be my timing, but that through faith and His will we will be directed in the ways that He sees fit.
No matter how bad we may want something or pray for something, it's always on His time.

top: c/o Persunmall, skirt: f21 (similar), booties: plato's closet arrowhead (buy), necklace: c/o caroline g., watch: no longer sold (similar), leggings: hugo (similar)

watching: a mixture of things really. the following came back on last night and I'm excited for this season already. I'm not sure if I'll be able to wait a week for a new episode. Also, rewatching Frasier.. for the second time through. Real good tv that Frasier.

crocheting: a granny square blanket, one of those that has a square for every day of the year. I've completely finished january and am headed through february, now if only Joanns wouldn't have my yarn on sale so I could use a coupon.

anticipating: the end of this semester. I just want it so be over already.  I mean, I know it's going to go by fast but lets just find the easy button and get it over with.

listening to: mumford and sons, of monsters and men... that kind of music. I really like it.  I've made this play list for the semester and I love it, so relaxing and calm. I did the same for a few semesters before and it's fun to hear the songs outside of my road trips to school.  It gets me all nostalgic and things.

thinking about: lots of things, and really it's the kind of thing that I don't want to share yet. It's personal and when I have personal things I'm not really one who likes to share them. A sort of family secret if you will.

feeling thankful for: Brand, I'm so grateful for how smart he is. I can't imagine doing what he does in school, sometimes when he talks to me about what he is learning I can hardly pronounce the words. And I know it sounds silly but I'm grateful for so many things, all these little things here and there. Even the ones that hurt me and make me feel sooooo left out.  I know there are reasons for our circumstances.

preparing for: my first presentation that is coming up in class. I hate presentations, but I just want to get mine over with!

Happy Tuesday friends, I hope you are getting through the week with ease.
I also have to mention how much I love this polka-dot shirt. I've been looking for one for such a long time and am so glad I found this one! It's so soft and light, again it will be a staple in my closet even for the summer!

a condensed version of my weekend: link up

I love weekends like these, where we have Monday holidays. They are so absolutely wonderful. We get to wake up on Monday and think, oh I don't have to work today! How wonderful is that?! Anyways, this weekend was rather uneventful, which is why I'm actually sharing with you pictures from my week.  If you read my blog on Friday you would have seen that I had a date night with myself and was bored-out-of-my-mind.  Okay, Brand came home at like 9 and then we went to in-n-out so I guess that counts as a date. (:

My brother reminded us that Maggie (the cute pup pictured above) is turning 11 on the 28th.  Which got us talking about how dogs die. Why is it that they can't just die peacefully in their beds when they are sleeping? No pain, no hurt.  My dad said something about how he didn't want to be there when the time comes to put her to sleep and when I got to thinking about it neither do I.  I mean, I'm sure I'll be there, but right now I'm not ready.  I will forever remember the time I put my dog to sleep-15 years of friendship and love I had with that best friend.  And just sometimes I can't get the picture of her falling asleep out of my head-when I think about this subject anyways.  And then I think about how great of an experience it can be because as humans we have a special choice to help our animals, if they are in pain, be removed from that pain and enter into their next estate.  I don't know, it all seems so morose and unappealing to talk about, and really it gets me teary eyed. But, lets be honest it's life and it's a part of something that all of us animal owners deal with. The thought of your pet's death is always in the back of your mind, it's one of those things that, as humans, we kind of dread.  Losing a best friend, a friend that doesn't talk back and just shows you love and affection. Anyways, I hope I get to spend many more years with my sweet Maggie Mae. I'm just not sure what I would do without her.

Today in church Brand taught sunday school-in the big room-for the first time. I was a little anxious, I don't know why I get that way, I just do. But he did a good job and I'm so proud of him. Proud in a way that a mom is proud of her son, and I don't have any kids so I get to be proud of Brand like that.  I'm excited to see Brand in this new role and learn more from him.  When I think about teaching a class I think about getting handouts and finding pictures and a table cloth to put on the table... and then when I want to help Brand get ready for his lesson I have to remember that guys don't do that sort of thing so I should probably just let him do it on his own. Haha. Guys and girls are funny like that, aren't they?!

I thought it would be fun to start a link up with every one's weekend posts! I want to see what you are all up to!

Link up your weekend below! I'd love to see what you did!
All you have to do is link back to this linky so that others can join in on the fun!

what I wore: this friday night

top: c/o Choies, necklace: c/o Choies, skirt: walmart (similar), leggings: Hugo (similar), booties: plato's closet arrowhead (buy), watch: no longer sold (similar),

Happy Friday friends!
Well, what can I say, I'm living the life of a wife whose husband is in one of those masters programs.
It's Friday night and I'm having a date with myself.
I've watched my fair share of Netflix and I think there's only so many seasons of cake boss and dc cupcakes that you can watch until you find yourself heading to the store to create your own cupcake war night.
I didn't do it, but don't you think I didn't think about it.
I can be so lazy sometimes. Also, I've never liked going places by myself and I don't know what it is.

So, I didn't have school today, so needless to say it's been a long boring day with me-myself-and-I.
After getting back to my grind of school and internship I guess I just don't know how to handle a day where I'm doing absolutely nothing.
I'm sure things will change as the semester goes along where I'll be sitting at the computer wishing I had this time back, so I guess it's just best to take it all in and enjoy every minute.
After all I've never really had this time to myself before... maybe that's another reason why I don't know what to do with myself.

Anyways, I hope you are enjoying your Friday night!
Feel free to let me know your plans tonight so I can live vicariously through you!

p.s. - I seriously LOVE this necklace, I've worn it three days this week and I've been wearing it all day today- yes, even though I've been inside all day. I love it!

Influenster jolly voxbox

Puffs Ultra Soft & Strong To Go Tissue Pack
- You can't go wrong with Puffs, I've always been in love with how soft and gentle their tissues are.  It's also really great that they come in such neat compact packages that perfectly fit in your purse.

NYC New York Color HD Color Trio Eye Shadow
- I don't wear eye shadow so I searched youtube to figure our how to wear it-yeah I know I'm kinda lame.  But when I applied the eye shadow to my eye lids it went on smooth and it worked really well.

Rimmel London NEW Show Off Lip Lacquer
- I really like the way this lacquer applies, it goes on smooth and doesn't leave any clumps.  The only thing I do not like about this lacquer is the color. The orange does not go well with my complexion and hair color, I'm convinced only a hand full of women could pull it off really.

Skinny Cow Candy
$3.99 box of 6
- This chocolate is really delicious and I couldn't believe it was 130 calories for all the pieces.  Inside each piece of chocolate is a caramel like filling that taste like peanut butter, it's kind of like those more expensive .  I gave my mom and nana a bar to try and they both were completely sold on them. It's the perfect chocolaty treat to suppress your appetite and you don't have to waste your whole day of calories on it.

Ducklings Mini Rolls
- Ducktape isn't used just for taping boxes together-especially when the duck tape looks super cute like this.  Ducktape can be used to decorate cards, tape on pictures, and lots more.  I liked this ducktape and especially like that it comes in multiple colors.

*This review is my own, Influenster gave me this product to write my own honest review on.  I received these products complimentary from Influenster for testing purposes.

what I wore: peter pan plus Paris

top: c/o Choies, jeans: nordstrom, booties: c/o plato's closet arrowhead (buy), watch: no longer sold (similar), bracelets: threads, earrings: c. wonder (similar)

If one things for sure I've always loved these peter pan collars. I love how feminine they look-I don't understand their name either.  I especially love them when they are paired with buttons right-down-the-middle.  It screams Paris and makes me feel like I'm back there already. Walking those bumpy cobbled streets, smelling the fresh flowers as you pass by every other store, hearing the locals speak French-and, gosh-darn-it you can't understand a lick they say because you took Spanish?! Oh Paris *said like a french woman of course.*  And then almost naturally you start singing this classic:

All I've really got to say is I love this shirt. I love the chiffon, I love how breathable it is, and I can already tell you that it's going to be one of my favorites this summer.

weekend shenanigans

It's official.  My last day of school starts tomorrow... well technically it starts tuesday, but my internship starts tomorrow. Such a bitter sweet moment tomorrow and tuesday will be. Beginning my last semester in the college world, boy does it feel good.  People keep asking what I want to do after I graduate and my answer is short and sweet, I just want to be a mom.  And there is absolutely nothing wrong with it, in fact that's all I've ever really wanted to be.  Motherhood seems so natural for me, I don't know if it's because I've loved babies ever since my brothers were born, I mean the day my brother came home from the hospital my mom was asking my dad to feed my brother and I kept telling them that I wanted to do it--I was 3.

Anyways, this weekend was a good way to end my winter break.  I volunteered at AHS, spent time finishing up my crochet projects, visited the temple, went to dinner, and got to spend time with Brand.  It was all so great.

When I volunteered I got to hangout with the silly puppy above.  He absolutely love to bury himself in the blankets. It was the funniest thing. He dove into the pile of blankets, found his way through to the most comfortable spot and poked his little head out. Silly guy.  I also got to spend some time with the sweetest dachshund ever, she was just abandoned,  had four puppies, weaned her puppies, had them taken away from them, and she was brought to a different place where the dogs other barked at her.  Let me just say I made it a point to be with her as much as I could to help her feel comfortable. Long story short she got a home that day.  I'm so glad dogs go to heaven, I can't wait to see her again.

I also got my order in from Choies and I have to tell you I'm so excited to wear these new things!  An outfit post with one of the items coming this week! (:
And of course now we arrive to Sunday, our church time is at 11 now-most perfect time ever-And we got to church 2 minutes late so we had to sit in the foyer-I really don't like sitting in the foyer.  We couldn't hear anything because the other ward had people walking the halls and talking oh-so-loud! It was rather rude and really distracted us from hearing the talks.  I guess the moral of the story is to get to church on time so you can hear the speakers.

Annnnnd that's my weekend/advice for the day.

Happy Sunday Friends!

spiritual sunday: abide with me

I seriously LOVE this video.
I think it's so often we get caught up in our own world and the things that are going on with our own lives, that we forget to think about what others are going through.

Happy Sunday friends!
