let's talk lamaze

top & maternity jeans: motherhood, flats: jcpenny
34 weeks

So, for the past few weeks Brand and I have been going to lamaze class. Before, I always thought lamaze class was a group of couples sitting on the ground going over awkward breathing techniques and birthing positions. Thank goodness I was wrong.

So, in school I never really took science classes, I might have taken one but only because I had to.  So all this medical information is so incredibly new to me and I had no idea what all these ladies were talking about when they reference effacement and dilation, and all these other medical terms. The very first class we went to I learned more than I ever thought possible. And guess what? We watched an actual birth, showing allllll the parts -if you know what I mean. It really brought the awkward out of me... and really everyone in the class.

We learned about what your body does post pregnancy, and allll the lovely things that go with it. Let's just say that if you don't know what goes on you'll want to take a class or talk to a friend you are really open with.

The other night was our last lamaze class. We toured the hospital, saw all the places we would be, it was pretty surreal walking through labor and delivery. Thinking about how in a month or just less we would be in that same hospital getting ready to meet our baby girl. Such a weird feeling and thought, I don't think I'll believe it until it's here.

what I wore: pregnancy staples

cardigan: target, top: target plain tee (maternity), maternity jeans: ross, booties: cotton on, necklace: Tiny Dazzles, bracelet: Tiny Dazzles
30 weeks

I'll admit it, dressing a pregnant body can be difficult, especially when nothing in your closet seems to fit anymore. For me it's been pretty nice because most of my tops still fit -I usually wear loose fitting tops- but my main problem has been with pants and skirts. So, let me fill you in on all the pregnancy staples that I use on an almost daily basis, staples that you can wear before, during, and after pregnancy.

Plain Colored Tees - These work for both summer and winter pregnancies because you can always add a cardigan over the top. But I love the plain colored tee because they go with any mixture of things, here are some examples of how you can style a plain colored tee 01.02.

Belts - I'm pretty sure I've worn a belt of some sort with every outfit I've put on my blog.  I feel like the belt accentuates your disappearing waist, and shows everyone else that yes, I'm pregnant. The belt is one of my favorite staples and it really adds to an outfit. Just scroll through these and you'll see all the ways I used a belt.

Cardigans - Such a life saver for me. It gives you a whole other accessory to use and really seems to tie the whole outfit together. Go herehere, and here to check out how I wore the cardigans.

Blouses - Once again another dressy type of shirt. My favorite thing about a blouse is that it's one of those pieces that you can definitely wear before and after you're pregnant. See how I wore the blouse here

Statement necklaces - These really spice up an outfit and bring variety to the look.  Some of my favorites are here, here, and here. And you might as well wear them now because once you have your baby they are going to yank them right off your neck.

Maxi dress/skirt - I can no longer fit into any of my skirts, which is really a bummer because I have some great Christmas ones. But, I love the maxi dress because it's stretchy and has fit me throughout my whole pregnancy.  I don't have any pictures of me in a maxi, so I guess I should get on that, but normally I pair it with a cardigan and a belt -wow, big surprise I know.

Maternity Jeans - I don't know where I would be without my maternity jeans -full panel by the way.  These things are amazing, they support my belly and they don't have a button or a zipper, boy am I going to miss these bad boys.  I wear jeans pretty much every day so it was extremely necessary for me to purchase these even if I can/should only wear them when I'm pregnant. Head here to see my maternity jean outfits.

Leggings - You've got to be crazy if you don't wear leggings when you're pregnant, even when you're just at home laying around. I love leggings to wear under dresses or with long tees, they are absolutely perfect. Head here to see how I wore leggings.

a condensed version of my weekend

It's been yet another week and we are getting that much closer to meeting our little girl. You know the story about me and two of my SILs having girl babies within four months of each other?! Seriously so exciting! It's getting down to the wire for these two babies and I cannot wait to meet them both! Such a special time for our families, babies are the biggest blessing ever!

Friday I spent a little bit of time making hair bows for these girls! Everyone needs a hair bow twin... or triplet in our case! (: I've got lots of errands and just general things to do around the house, but I've found that I'd rather play and crochet... understandable because I'm not going to have much time for that in the future. But really, I need to get to work.

Saturday Brand and I went to the second annual Downtown Glendale Christmas Parade, I loved it again, except this time there were people standing in the streets blocking our view, kind of not nice and ruined it a bit for us. Some people are just not so considerate I guess. Other than that it was a fun parade -and it's finally getting cold outside so it's feeling more like Christmas! FINALLY!
35 weeks

I know this is a blurry picture, but I couldn't help but laugh really hard when I saw how ridiculous I looked. This button up has never had to work so hard, I could hardly breathe and as I was unbuttoning the shirt one of the buttons came undone by its self, I think it was its own way of saying this is not happening.  It made me laugh even harder.

Also, I've been wearing my Russian wedding ring for the past few weeks, something about not wanting to have my wedding ring sawed off my finger as these babies get more swollen.

Last night I was laying on my side, on the couch, and this baby was going crazy. She was moving all around, showing us her knees and her bum... well you couldn't see the outline, but really it wasn't her head so what's the next option? This girl is cracking us up already. It's so weird to think that in 5 weeks we are going to have a baby in our house. Such a wonderful blessing, my very favorite belated Christmas gift for sure!

Happy Monday!

tmart.com

Oh, I love one stop shops, and when they are online they're even better. I recently found tmart.com, an e-marketplace that offers its customers with a wide variety of products with competitive prices. Tmart.com has a numerous selection of products from cell phones, to tiaras, to board games, to camping tents. You’re sure to find any item you’re looking for.

I’ve been in the need of finding a good cellphone case, I’ve had mine for two years and it is getting all nasty –literally, the white part is turning yellow and the sides are wearing off.  So, I took to tmart.com and looked for a phone case that I knew I could trust. Because, what's worse than dropping your phone? Dropping your phone and having your screen shatter, seriously that's the pits. So many other phone cases don't do much for protection, all they really do is look cute, sure I'm all about things looking cute, but can't we have both?! Yes, yes you can.

I’ve been looking to get an otterbox, but they've always been so darn expensive. When I searched for an otterbox on tmart.com I was happily surprised to see the price, so much less expensive than what I’ve been finding everywhere else.

Tmart.com is great when you are looking to spend less money, the only thing I recommend when purchasing an item is to make sure you have plenty of time for it to ship. I was very happy when my otterbox phone case came in the mail, it has been such a nice, strong case that protects my phone and makes me less nervous about accidentaly dropping it on the floor

This post was sponsored by tmart.com, but all the review is my own.

a condensed version of my weekend

What a weekend. Saturday was baby girl's baby shower more on that later because my mom did such an amazing job decorating! I cannot believe how wonderful everything was.

Sunday night I started a list of everything that I need to get or finish by the time this little one arrives. The list, a whole page long and I have 6 weeks left, if she comes on the day she is supposed to. Also, I'm not finished with the list. It's amazing how much planning and preparation there is when you have a baby.  I recommend not waiting till last minute, like I did.  One, you don't feel like doing anything anyways, all you want to do is sit back and eat what you're craving. Two, it can be difficult to run errands when you get so big. I have a difficult time getting in and out of the car and I get really out of breath just walking up to the store fronts.

One of the really fun parts about being out in public while pregnant is that everyone stares at your belly. You know they're staring because instead of looking at your face they are looking at your mid section. It can be odd at times, but it's really fun.  And then you get the older ladies looking at you and then smiling with the biggest smile because they know what you're going through, and they know what comes after.
I officially cannot see my toes when I stand up straight, I'm not exactly sure when that started, but I noticed it on sunday when we were at Brand's family's house. It's the funniest thing, everything below my belly has officially disappeared off my radar, which can be a good thing -for now- because I'm pretty sure I've gathered some poundage on my ligaments. Oh well.  Everything seems to be going oh so fast with this pregnancy, i cannot believe we are almost a month away from seeing this little nut.

so much to be thankful for

top: Kohls (no longer sold), Cardigan: JcPenny (no longer sold), maternity jeans: motherhood, glasses: Firmoo flats: JcPenny (similar)
32 weeks

I feel like this year Brand and I have so much to be thankful for and it seems like things are falling into place -even thought it has taken longer than we imagined. Brand started dental school this year, something we've been applying to and thinking about for at least three years. And we are finally having a baby. FINALLY. Our lives are about to change completely but I'm pretty sure it's all we've ever wanted.  We've been blessed with good health, family so ridiculously close, a house to live in, and so much more.

But, this year, every time I think about what I'm most thankful for I think about this little person kicking me from the inside. Her hiccups, how she stretches her legs which then makes her bum poke out, and that bum -lets talk about that bum- she has had a favorite seat since week 23 and it's right by my belly button.  When we went to the doctor for her 4D ultrasound I got all giddy inside just from looking at her. She has the chubbiest cheeks, a nose and eyes like her mom, and her dad's lips -she's already got the pout-y lip thing down and it makes my heart melt. And she tried smiling for us too, it wasn't a whole smile, but she tried.

This time last year I remember thinking about where I would be a year from then. My highest dreams were that we would be where we are right now. Oh how grateful I am for dreams that come true. Last year I remember being so upset, devastated, really just down-right-sad because I wanted a baby so bad. It had been something I longed for, for as long as I can remember and that fact that where ever I looked I saw a pregnant belly didn't help either.

It seems like our lives are starting to make sense, and boy have we worked hard for this life. For all the things we have, all the things we've accomplished, the places we've gotten to see, everything. I'm excited to say that life as I know it is about to change for good. A new life is about to start, a life that I get to impact, I get to teach, a life that I get to love, a life that will be my baby forever. You guys, I cannot wait for this new life. Seven more weeks.

Also, if you're looking for a new pair of glasses this Christmas Season check out Firmoo because you get your first pair free! Such a great deal for the versatile frames that they have.  Good luck picking, it's such a difficult choice!

a condensed version of my weekend

Holy cow where did my November go? I'm pretty sure yesterday was Halloween, wasn't it?  The weekends around here have been lazy to say the least. Brand has been out on school break for three weeks -at first I was like well there goes my daily routine, and then I was like don't go back to school!!  We had a whole lot of things to do on our list during this break, most of them had to do with getting ready for this little girl to make her big debut. Some of the things we got done were: paint baby room/closet, A+A Christmas gift, put together nursery, and so on. Other things didn't seem like too much fun to accomplish, I mean who wants to take their car to the mechanic on their school break? And yard work? No-such-thing. We did get quite a bit done, but it always seems like there is so much to do still. That's just how it works isn't it.

This weekend was such a fun weekend. Brand and I love being with family and spending time together. All the family was in town and we had a blast. When you live within walking distance of your parents and your in-laws holidays are super fun and you never go hungry. Two dinners is always a must for us on holidays.

Usually, after we've spent time with our family and they become sick of us, Brand and I head out to scope the Black Friday deals - a lot of the time it's just to watch the crazy people. This year was a bit different though because I was the only one who wanted to continue the tradition -something about this time next year I'll have a baby had a little bit to do with it. So instead I went Black Friday shopping with the Dawson girls -destination: Target. We had fun, the lines were long, and there weren't as many people as there had been years before, I assume it's because they started to stinking early -I'm not a fan. I didn't find anything that I needed when I was there, I'm telling you, I've got pretty good self control when it comes to buying things, maybe it's because I know how much money I don't have in the bank.

The rest of our weekend was spent picking out Christmas lights, being with family, seeing the new Stephen Hawking film, and soaking up the last bits of fall break before Brand headed back to school. I'd say overall though, our break was good.

a condensed version of my weekend

Good grief Charlie Brown. I feel like this belly of mine has gotten so big that it's not possible for it to get any bigger, but then I know that this little one is going to at least double in size, which gets me thinking... is there really room in there for that?! I don't think so. It's an amazing thing, the body. I've thought about it a lot and It's all so incredible. My body -right now- is making another human being, a human being this little person is only about to begin her life in this world and I get to teach her everything I know.  Sometimes I think I'm crazy when I get too deep into thoughts like these, but I cannot seem to stop thinking about how amazing pregnancy is.

Last week we had our 4D ultrasound -they call it 4D because we could actually see her moving, she was moving her lips, rubbing her eyes, making pout-y lips -the kind of pout-y lips that I just want to smooch, and her cheeks are the chubbiest -she gets that from her daddy's side- I could have watched this girl all day long. Oh how 9 weeks seems like such a short amount of time till we see this girl, I cannot tell you how excited I am, it's the best. But, I can wait the 9 weeks because we still have so much left to do!

I also cannot get over the cute clothes babies wear, all things small are the absolute best and always seem to be the cutest. I love these OshKosh outfits that she got in the mail the other day, I'm not sure you can get any cuter than OshKosh, I've always been in love with their kid overalls and jean jackets, oh man.
I have absolutely nothing to complain about. This weekend was amazing, one of those that you remember for the rest of your life and you tell your kids about. This weekend the Phoenix, Arizona temple was dedicated. Saturday we had a cultural celebration, and Sunday was the dedication. I had the awesome opportunity of participating in the cultural celebration and I words cannot describe all my feelings. It was amazing, the Spirit was so strong, and I have never felt to much power and strength.
I also have to add this puppy picture, Benz was the cutest, I gave him a mow hawk and he looked so cool and tough on camera, my favorite part... this homeless boy is no longer homeless and now has a home!

I hope you had an awesome weekend!

currently

maternity top: target (similar), half cardi: target (similar), maternity jeans: ross, flats: jcpenny (similar), bracelet: c/o Tiny Dazzles, watch: no longer sold (similar)

Watching: Gilmore Girls and I feel like I'm back in middle school. My favorite part though, watching the shows in order, because you never knew if the episode you were watching was really supposed to be next.

Crocheting: Trying to finish up the baby blessing blanket. I took a month break with it, because every time I went to the store my yarn was on sale -not a good thing because I always use a coupon and you can't when it's on sale.

Anticipating: Getting baby girl's nursery ready. Brand is officially on fall break starting next week and we've got lots of plans to get things ready. Number one: painting her room.

Listening to: The cool air pass by our front door. This week has been heavenly in glendale, we haven't used our air conditioner since Halloween. -Since Halloween!

Thinking about: All the things I need and want to get done before this baby gets here. I feel like I have so much to do and not very much time to finish it. Yikes.

Feeling thankful: For this weather and this time of year. I love holiday parties and I love being with family, this time of year seems so magical.

Wanting: A double chocolate-y chip frap from starbucks, I had one a few weeks back and I think it's time for another.

Enjoying: This time with Brand and me, trying to soak in all the time where it's just the two of us.

Wondering: What this baby is going to look like. We have a 3D ultrasound next week and I really hope she cooperates, I cannot wait to see her little face. Gahhh.

Smelling: My cinnamon wall plug. At the beginning of this pregnancy it made me want to hurl, but I'm really loving it now!

Wearing: These maternity leggings, and really any shirt that fits. I've been in the habit of wearing my shirts over my belly when I'm home. So much more comfortable.

Following: What seems to be like a whole bunch of people who are having babies, which in turn makes me want to snuggle my baby.

Feeling: Like when she gets here that I'm not going to want to share her. Excuses: Oh sorry, my phone died. I lost your number. They don't allow visitors this time of year. I don't know, I'll keep coming up with more excuses. Ha!

a condensed version of my weekend

I feel like this is the first Halloween I actually participated, because it was. I'm not a creative person, but I've always wanted to do those couples costumes -you know, the ones where you can tell a lot of effort went into it, how do these people come up with such creative things?  This year we participated, but we weren't one of those creative couples, and thanks to my girl Abby I was able to have an awesome costume. Anyways, it all turned out and it was fun not being a total stick-in-the-mud this time around. Can I also tell you how much fun it is to have friends. Brand has a group of friends that he studies with -he sees them more than he sees me- and we got together with them and had a fun little Halloween party.

Last week I had my first since Russia moment. We went to a mexican food restaurant and then smelt like mexican food when we left -which I was not about to be a part of. So we went to starbucks, because obviously I would rather smell like coffee -really though, I love the smell of coffee. And here I had my first frap since Russia, I hated to do it, but it sounded so delicious and what my baby wants my baby gets.

This week I also finished making our baby's crib blanket. I'm in love with it, and it matches her bedding perfectly! I cannot wait to wrap up her little self in it and snuggle her.
Saturday the Phoenix, Arizona temple open house came to a close. I visited and walked through the temple every week, but still somehow wish I could have gone more. It was such a fun experience being able to go with family and friends, I love the temple and how beautiful it is.  -Don't mind my looking like a fatty, the wind was blowing juuuust enough to make my dress spread out, I need to be better at these pregnancy poses.

Happy Monday
