Awkward & Awesome!

I consider my self to be pretty normal.
But maybe some of my awkwardness is not normal!
I found this super cute blog
{button below}
and I like her posts!
I like reading about awkward and awesome things
that happen to other people
and it makes me feel even more normal!!

So here is another first post for me!
Awkward & Awesome!

  • Facebook can cause all sorts of awkward situations. For example, my husband and I share a Facebook account and we constantly have random people friend request us and sometime we have to ignore the requests because we don't know them! But there was a specific person who we ignored and came up to us and asked us if we saw their friend request!! Uhhh...

{yes for the moment I can only think of ONE awkward thing!!}

  • I FINALLY got to go on a shopping adventure! My sweet husband let me pick out some outfits and I really cannot wait for WWW! I am going to have the cutest outfits!
  • I stood up for my self the other day! This man though he was all that and I totally dished it right back! Maybe that isn't very nice but I am no longer bing pushed around!
  • General Conference is this weekend! I cannot wait to listen to all the AMAZING talks!!
  • My niece was blessed on Sunday and we went to her party later that night and I got to holder the whole time!!! {I love her!}

Friends Day Wednesday!!

Hello there my lovely friends
Welcome to Friends Day Wednesday for Round 2!!
This time we are introducing a pretty cool chica or should I say 'dame'?!

Maybe I'm partial {actually no--I'm not}
but Chrissy loves to do the same things I do!!
I'm not going to spoil her introduction so lets get to it!

Hello everyone! I am Chrissy from Whimsical Poppysmic.
My family and I moved from Germany to the States 2,5 years ago. The hubby's job brought us here and we are having a lot of fun living here in the suburbs of Chicago! Although it can get tough living so far away from your family and friends and not being able to go visit them just like that!

I started blogging 7 months ago and my little blog has grown so much in that short period of time! I have met so many amazing and inspiring bloggers, I can't even imagine life without my daily dose of blogging! I blog about out life here in Illinois, about being a Girl Scout leader and a member of the PTO at my daughter's school! I write about my craftiness or about my moods, anything that comes to my mind!

 I have always been creative and loved knitting, crocheting and embroidery! I have a passion for felt and all things whimsical. After showing some of my creations on my blog and seeing the response I got, I decided to open my own Etsy shop Whimsical Poppysmic last December!
And it is so much fun!

You can find me on twitter - I love tweeting! So, come on over for a visit - I'd love to have you!

Isn't she super fun?!
I sure think so!

Wanna be a part of Friends Day Wednesday but don't know how?!

Send me a quick 'about you' email and I'll hook you up!!

Can't wait to hear from you!

Fabric Headband Tutorial

Okay! So I was blogging around and found this super cute tutorial!
She mad her own name for the headband and I didn't want to copy hers.
So if you have a good name let me know!

I think it is pretty cute and rather easy to make!!

Needle & Thread
Hot Glue
a Button
a Headband

First, bunch your fabric in a cute pattern/way that you like.

Next Sew in the middle of the fabric so the pieces stay together.

 Next cover a button with fabric and place it over the mark that the thread made.

Now you will want to cover the headband with fabric.

Now glue the headband to the fabric and make sure to place it in the middle.

Place an extra piece of fabric to the back to secure the headband.

And you are done!
Easy Peazy!
Next up Friends Day Wednesday!!!

Married Couples Have More Fun!

I'm sure a lot of you married gals can relate to this!

A couple months ago my husband and I were sitting around asking the typical question
"What do you want to do tonight?"
The respond is always
"I don't know, what do you want to do?"
{Which reminds me of the scene from 'The Jungle Book" with the vultures.}

After we got married we soon caught on that we no longer had friends for a few reasons:
One, they were single people who didn't want to hang out with married folk.
Two, they were married but they just got married and wanted to just hang out with each other.
Three, they were married but our schedules never worked out and they live on the other side of the valley.

{So these are our predicaments}

Last weekend Brand had a GREAT idea!
He works part time at a country club and thought it would be fun to drive the golf carts around and pick up the pins!

Boy was he right!!
So right that we have done this for TWO Saturdays straight!!
I know you think we are lame but we are NOT! (:

We had so much fun that we even drug Brand's sister along!!

 This was yesterday.
 This was last week.

And this is the beautiful golf course!

Oh and last night I finally went shopping and got some super cute clothes!!
{I think I'm in style now!!}
I'll do that post next!!! (:
Later Days!

I'm very excited to have the opportunity to share with you a little bit about me and my blog.

I am a...

Meet my blog ...
a little bit of this & that is a place for me to document my journey through life.

When I started my blog two months ago,  I didn't have a particular type (e.g. fashion, design, baking, etc.) of blog in mind.   I knew my blog would be a culmination of many random topics so I felt naming it " a little bit of this & that" would cover my various ramblings :)   Now after a few months in the blogging world, I'm happy to say I've probably succeeded in covering every topic imaginable {haha}.

Here a few links that may interest you ...

A few pictures from my blog ...

My trip around the blogging world has been more than I ever could have imagined and I look forward to more blog "sightseeing"! Please feel free to visit my blog and say "hi"!

Don't you love her?!

If you want to be one of my New Friends here on Friends Day Wednesday send me a quick little email!

I will also put your blog button on my side bar!!

Out With The Old - In With The New

Vacuum cleaner that is!

My hubs and I decided that we were in desperate need of a new
vacuum because our other one stopped working.

I've been seeing these commercials for Dyson Vacuums and
I really couldn't resist.

They work really well and I even text Cha-Cha to see what
vacuum is best for your money!
I'm serious! I REALLY did!

 When we were buying is the lady behind us goes
"What are you buying?"
"This LOVELY vacuum!" I say.
"THIS is what you do on your Saturday night?!"

{Personally I think she was jealous!}

So no need to linger here is the beautiful new vacuum we bought!

Don't hate!

Its Been a While & Korker Tutorial

I've gone almost a  whole week with out blogging!
[not by choice might I say]
My husband has a job that requires A LOT
of computer time

So when I get home from work
He needs the computer

and it's not like I can say
‘Well my blogging is so much more important”
Because it’s really not!
But Still! I miss looking at everything that is going on with
you bloggers!!

So lets start on this super cute tutorial!

Do you remember those cute korker bows that
You use to wear when you were little?

They are so stinkin’ easy to make!

3/8 inch ribbon
1/4 inch Wooden dowels
an oven
Clothes pins
Elastic or string

First you want to preheat your oven to 275

Next take your ribbon and wrap it around the dowel.
{make sure you have your clothes pins ready]
Attach your clothes pins to the dowels so the ribbon doesn’t fall off

Repeat this step how ever many times depending on how many dowels you have or want.

When you are done attaching your ribbon you will put the dowels on a baking sheet
Make sure the ribbon doesn’t touch

These will be in the over for 25 minutes.
{All ovens vary so you may need to make adjustments}
After 25 minutes take them out and let them cool.

Carefully take the ribbon off the dowel.
If you are not careful the ribbon will loose its curl

Then you are going to cut your korkers to the length you want.

I cut mine at 2.5 inches

Next pile them up and tie an elastic or string around the center part.

Make sure the elastic or string is tight.

Clip the excess string or elastic.

Lastly attach a hair clip to the bottom and you are DONE!!

Are You a SUPER Fan?

I know one thing is for sure I LOVE THE OFFICE!

My husband and I are constantly quoting it!
and laughing because we remember the different awkward moments Michael Scott has.
We watch an episode at least once a day before we go to sleep!

I do not call this obsessed we just really love it!

I guess you could call us SUPER FANS

Last night we bought season 6 from Target because it was on sale! YES!!

I cannot wait to watch these episodes again!!

Go ahead and give it a try!
You might wet your pants from laughing so hard!
Oh and the bloopers are pretty funny too!!

But don't take my word for it!
